William Whittingham Whittingham was born in Detroit, Michigan. He studied at Michigan University as well as with Rueben Tam at the Brooklyn Museum. He was well known as an illustrator but also painted decorative canvases for exhibitions and commissions. He won first prize at the New York City Center and he also had been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators. Whittingham has had his illustrations appear in many woman’s magazines in England as well as The Saturday Evening Post, Ski Magazine, TV Guide, Parent’s Magazine, and Bantam Books in he United States. He is mentioned and illustrated in book The Illustrator in America, 1860-2000 The Society of Illustrators, he is also listed in Who Was Who in American Art 1964-1975, the book Covers of Saturday Evening Post, and Seventy Years of Outstanding Illustration, and others. He often went under the name Bill Whittingham. |
