In the Ukrainian art of the recent decades of XX-XXI century the creative activity of Aseksiy Vlasov is characterized by the consistent commitment to the established artistic traditions which he practiced creating and promoting modern art and revealed the inner world of his contemporary.
Being a muralist by training Aleksiy Vlasov mainly worked in the easel painting. In this type of painting, regardless of its genre - whether it was a landscape or a still life, or paintings on religious themes – the tangible echoes of the best traditions of the world culture beginning from Byzantine art and Ukrainian iconography, Renaissance painting or prominent European masters of XVII century are heard. They inspired the author and disclosed to him numerous ways that reflected in his art in a concise and expressive artistic images with many shades of meaning and subtext.
Aleksiy Vlasov certainly remains one of the leading masters of the Ukrainian culture of his time. The artist’s activity organically combines the traditions of the past and modern art and his works are filled with deep and meaningful content that is always the main feature of the true art. The main genres are theme picture and portrait. The silver color of Vlasov’s painting is based on light shadow achromatic paints and exquisite shapes and tonal gradation of forms and plans; the compositions are built on the relationship of forms and decorative planes. In all exhibitions, including the Western European countries, America and Japan, the works of Vlasov were the same success. And it was no coincidence - his paintings had always been characterised by the laconic way of expression, refined and restrained coloration and fine form.
His works are exhibited in the museums of Ukraine (including the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Kiev), the Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) and in private collections of Europe, America and Australia.
