Vassilis Sperantsas was born in Athen, Greece in 1938.

From 1956 until 1962 he studied painting and engraving at the École des Beaux-Arts of Paris.

In 1969 he went to London, where he studied chalcography in various Art Academies in the town.

Vassilis Sperantsas is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and of Art Chamber of Greece. He first showed his work in 1960, with his participation in the group show of the "Panelinion", while his first one-man show was in "Astor" Gallery in Athens in 1966.

Since then there have been more than twenty one-man shows in Greece and abroad, while the number of group shows is more than fifty, in and out of Greece.

Works of Vassilis Sperantsas belong to public collections, likewise in the National Gallery of Greece, the Alexander Soutzou Museum, the Averof Gallery, the Vorre Museum, the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, in private collections in Greece and abroad etc.
