Sultan Yushaev

Born 1960

Yushaev was born in Chechya. He is a gifted painter who has earned his recognition at the Academies of Fine Arts of Makhachkala (Dagestan, USSR), Leningrad (USSR) and Leipzig (former East Germany).

Yushaev fled his country because of the war, but remained active in his new homeland Belgium as a painter.

He exhibited in 2009 in an art exhibition to give some background to the conflict which Yushaev fled several years before.

The working group "Integration, immigration and asylum policy" of Boechout organized the event entitled "Chechnya between art and conflict" March 1st, 2009.
