Doblhoff was born 1 April 1880, in Vienna, Austria
He lived for a time in Paris, and specialized as a portrait painter. An example of his work is Portrait of the Emperor Franz-Josef.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts 1896-1900 (with Siegmund L'Allemand and August Eisenmenger ), after military service in Paris (1903) and Dachau (1905/1906), traveled to the USA in 1907 and traveled around the world in 1910 to China and Japan. 1916-1918.
He worked as a war painter and worked after the war temporarily (1924-1932 seven long stays in the US), from 1932 constantly in Vienna.
From him numerous portraits of the imperial family and the nobility as well as personalities in the United States (President Roosevelt).
He was for twelve years president or honorary member of the (1938 dissolved) Association of Danubian artists "Theseus temple".
