Nat Werner

1908-1991

Werner was a sculptor, he worked in both figurative and abstract styles and with nearly every sculptural method, including terra-cotta, carved wood and stone, welded steel and found-object assemblage.

Werner was born on Dec. 8, 1907, in New York City and was brought up in the Hebrew Orphan Asylum. 

He studied at City College and the Art Students League and had his first exhibition in 1937 at the A.C.A. Gallery, where he continued to exhibit until 1963.

He studied at the College of the City of New York; Art Students League; Robert Laurent; Columbia University. Member: Sculptors Guild; American Artists Congress.

One-Person Exhibitions: ACA Gallery, New York (ten shows, 1937-1962).
