Paul  Kastrup

1920 -1987


Born in Aarhus in 1920. Educated  at the Technical school of arts in 1939.

Hw lived and worked in Paris and parts of Normandy during World War Two. Returned  to France for shorter stays until the early 1960s.

Other travels  include; Germany, Holland and Belgium. Kastrup was known for his impressionist cityscapes, especially his series from Paris,  where he worked on the streets capturing the many people using  light and quick brushstrokes.

Kastrup was a member of the  artist group “ The 10” along with Danish modernist  Borge Ball (1906-1976).

The works of Kastrup are represented  in many public institutions and sold a series of impressionist  harbour views to the Royal Swedish Marine. He exhibited at  the young art show in Aarhus, the artists free exhibition  and had solo shows at Charlottenborg in 1954. Kastrup is listed  in the Artists encyclopaedia ( Dansk Billedkunst )
