Jacques was born in Barre, Vermont.

Michael Jacques is a master printmaker, painter, and sculptor.

His works are in the permanent collections of many major institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts, in Boston; the United States House of Representatives; the Museum of American Art, Washington, D.C.; the National Collection, Beijing, China; the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts, and the Smithsonian Institution's National Collection of American Art.

Jacques has won a variety of awards for his art including a prestigious American Book Award Nomination for Book Illustration.

He regularly exhibited his paintings at the annual Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts, and for many years has taught at the Laguna College of Art & Design.
