"The ultimate abstraction takes place in mathematics where words are replaced by symbols. Connecting the symbols is rigorously defined by writing and computerization. Abstraction in art becomes mathematics in its visual aspect within the basic elements of art...color and form, which words cannot define."

May Bender, a lifetime painter, has produced artworks during her successful career as head of her industrial/package design organization and continues today in her full time endeavors as a fine art painter.

After honors at the Arts High School, Newark, New Jersey, she continued her art education at the Art Students League of New York with acknowledged masters of art. Howard Trafton and Vincent Malta.
Other studies in marketing and production have added to her extraordinary knowledge of life and art.

Her organization, May Bender Design Associates, was engaged in industrial design, packaging and product design, and corporate identity. She has written numerous articles for publication. Awards include: Package Designers Council International's "Packaging Person of the Year", 1985 and CLIO, 1980.

In addition, she has taught design in packaging at the Parsons/New School in New York.
