Magda Andrade
1912-1984

Andrade studied at the Academy of Fine Arts; Lived in Buenos Aires in 1924 and later in Paris after 1935, where she studied at the Academy of La Grande Chaumière, in the studio of André Lothe, where she spent 4 years in the academy of Othon Friesz and in the workshops of Marcel Grommaire And Marie Laurencin, who will mark their style and plastic preferences.

Dedicated to landscape and portraiture, she participated in the "First International Exhibition of Contemporary Plastic Art" ( Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris , 1954) and, in 1955, at the São Paulo Biennial and the Barcelona Biennial, among many other exhibitions.

Her work is characterized by placing his characters in monochrome backgrounds, in generally cold tones, to achieve a fantastic and dreamy note. On the other hand, her work as portraitist always had the acceptance of Venezuelan society. The gallery of National Art of Caracas possesses of this artist at the old Puerto de Saint-Tropez and Serenata oils.
