Ly Stellar Harding

1881-1968

Ly Stellar Harding of Montclair was a prominent New Jersey painter and sculptor.

Mrs. Harding, widow of Dr. Hugo Harding, was born in Germany and traveled the European continent while acquiring her education and art training. She received most of her training in Paris and Brussels, and came to the US in 1907, studying in Chicago and New York. She lived at 7 Yale Terrace, Montclair.

Her works, which include paintings in a variety of media and sculptures, have been exhibited in museums and private showings in Europe, and in this country. The Montclair Art Museum, Newark Museum and State Museum in Trenton have had exhibitions of her works in this state.

Mrs. Harding, who also gave private art lessons throughout the Oranges, was secretary of the Associated Artists of New Jersey.
