Luigi Corbellini
1901 –1968
Luigi Corbellini was born in 1901 in Piacenza, Italy. He moved to Paris
at the age of 20, where he exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Indépendants
from 1928-1929, the Salon des Tuileries, Salon d’Autumne, and
the Salon de la Société Nationale ds Beaux Arts. He had
an important exhibition of fifty paintings at the Galerie Carmine in
1928.
Corbellini’s paintings from his time in Montparnasse show a strength
and boldness that only the Parisian atmosphere could have inspired.
He painted several paintings of Kiki, the most famous model of her time.
After a long career in Paris, and having exhibited at many galleries
including Galerie Durand-Ruel, he moved to New York in 1947.
In New York he exhibited
at the Hammer Gallery. New York captivated him and the city became a
favorite subject for his works. He also exhibited in Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Miami, and Chicago. |
