Lucien Geraci

1923-2005

Born on March 13, 1923 in New Haven Connecticut, he studied at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948. He became a Skowhegan (Maine) School of Painting and Sculpture scholar in 1948 and subsequently went to study abroad. Geraci received certificates from the Academie Julian in 1948-49, and the Beaux Arts Academie in 1949, both in Paris. He also studied at the Italian Academy in Rome, receiving a certificate in 1950. Returning to the U.S., he studied at the Rhode Island School of Design (B.F.A., 1953).

His work is present in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad.

He was the owner of the Art Gallery 123, in Lancaster, PA, from 1958-59; designer and stylist at the Hygiene Company, New York, Maartex, Cannon Mills, Armstrong Cork, from 1955-1970; president and owner of Geraci Galleries in Rockport, Mass., from 1978 to 1998.

Geraci painted portraits, landscapes, seascapes, and still life capturing the indigenous character and culture of Cape Ann where he lived and worked.
