John Lachlan Campbell
1936-2014
Campbel was born in Barrow-in-Furness in northern England in 1936.
Campbell was a self taught artist, he painted life as he saw it. Though he was not terribly interested in selling his paintings he did have exhibitions in various galleries and in local restaurants.
Written by his son:
Due to his talent as a painter, Lachlan has acquired his own form of personal expression and vision through these animated figures so characteristic of his work.
It began in the north of England, where he grew up, painting and sketching the doclkands and becoming a memer of the local Art Society. Later residing in Cornwall with his wife and children, he regularly exhibited his work. Since moving to Southern Spain and being inspired by the vibrant lifestyle of the Spanish people, this individual method of figurative painting had developed.
His paintings have had many venues in the Valencian region of Spain, and more recently in an Art Fair in New York, as a result his works have found homes in many countries as far flung as America and Australia.
He died in Spain in 2014.
