Jean Pollet

1929-

Pollet was born 1929, in Romanèche-Thorins in Burgundy, France

He was a painter and illustrator. He painted nudes, scenes with figures, landscapes, still-lifes.

Jean Pollet was for a while an architecture student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He traveled to Belgium and the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

He treated a range of subjects in a strictly realist vein where color was subservient to form. The dark palette he used in the late 1950s evolved in his 'green' period when he visited the Dordogne and Normandy regions. He exhibited at the Salon des Moins along with Bernard Buffet.

He exhibited at the prestigious Galerie Charpentier on the Rue du FG Saint-Hononé, among other and at several Paris Salons.
