Charles Martin 1884- 1934 Martin was born on 28 February 1884, in Montpellier; died 20 November 1934, in Paris. He was a draughtsman, watercolourist, illustrator. Figures, nudes. Charles Martin studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier and then at the Académie Julian, before entering Fernand Cormon's studio in Paris. He worked on Sourire and La Vie Parisienne, and illustrated P.J. Toulet's Le Mariage de Don Quichotte, Montesquieu's Les Lettres Persanes, Mérimée's Carmen, Jules Laforgue's Pierrot Fumiste, Musset's Œuvres Complètes, La Fontaine's Contes et Nouvelles, Abbé Prévost's Manon Lescaut and Villon's Œuvres.
