Bernard Weinstein

Weinstein studied at the Brooklyn Institute of Art in the 1920s. He worked as an illustrator and fine painter in Baltimore before moving to Florida later in his career (circa 1950). His work is predominantly figurative, and stylistically, is a blend of American Scene painting and Magic Realism.

His stylized figures and animals are typically set in scenes of movement and surprise. There is an element of mystery regarding what is unfolding in the scene, as well as the subjects' motives.
