Arthur Emptage

1903-1982

Arthur Emptage lived and worked in New York City and later in life in Weston, Connecticut, where he died in 1982.

He was a member of American Artists Congress in the 1930's and was known for his abstractions, figures, and still lives.

He had a one-man exhibit in New York City in 1938 but spent his mature artistic life working alone in his Weston studio for the most part, ignoring the gallery scene and art marketplace.

His colleagues included Stuart Davis, painter Philip Evergood was a lifelong friend.
