Alexandre Blanchet was born in 1882 in Pforzheim, Germany.
 
In 1909 Blanchet had his first exhibition with his artist friend Alexandre Mairet (1880-1947) at the Musée Rath in Geneva.
 
Blanchet studied at l'Ecole des Arts Industrielsde de Genéve. He developed a close association with two other well-known culture figures of his day: the painter René Auberjonois and the writer Charles Ferdinand Ramuz.
Blanchet as a young man worked in Paris. His style exhibits Expressionism, Fauvism, and Cubism influences, he was clearly influenced by Cézanne in particular.
In the 1920s, he became known for his large format murals, including the decor of the Tribunal Federal in Lausanne, and the churches Saint Joseph and Sacre Cour in Geneva. Blanchet received the first prize of the city of Geneva in 1947.
 
He was known as a Swiss artist from the Suisse Romannde part of Switzerland during the period between the wars.
Blanchet exhibited widely across Switzerland and France.
Alexandre Blanchet passed away in 1961.
